This Studio is about the long game of work and life. Together we will read and discuss books that explore mastery, discipline, purpose, and what it means to build something meaningful over time, whether that is a career, a body of work, a business, or a life. Great lives are built, not found.
This Studio is a good fit for people who believe in the built life and mastery over hustle.
Hosted by John Giordano
John is a writer, artist, and former college professor who now leads Ramp Coaching, a Newburyport nonprofit focused on making personal, educational, and career coaching accessible to all. His work centers on helping people think more deeply about their lives and work, and on supporting self-directed growth over time. In Architects of Greatness, John brings a thoughtful, real-world perspective on ambition, purpose, and the long road of mastery. He holds a PhD and an MFA and has spent many years teaching, writing, and working with people at moments of change and growth.
Studio Details
- Session Length: 90 minutes
- Meets: Thursdays | 6:30-8:00pm | May 28th, June 25th, July 23rd
- Location: Illume Books
- Group Size: ≤ 10 members
- Price: $175 per quarter
- Studios build progressively over time, and membership continues each quarter unless you choose to opt out.

- A curated Companion Reading List
- An Illume Studio Journal & Pen
- A private Digital Clubroom for your Studio
- One 90-minute Studio Session per month
- Limited to 10 members
Your Primary Reads will be ready for pickup at Illume before the first meeting.

merchandise returns for store credit within 14 days. No returns on Illume Essence, art & unwrapped games. All returns at discretion of the bookseller.

While we do our best to offer as much of our inventory online as possible, the best way to see everything is to stop by! ✨

Curation and "Why Don't You Carry..."
Illume is an experience for readers that's meant to showcase a careful selection of titles much in the same way an art gallery would display an exhibition.
Titles are always shown "cover forward", and our inventory rotates to reflect current reader interests, shifting topics, and obscure finds. That said, we LOVE recommendations! Let us know what you're looking for, or what your favorite reads are. You may find them on the shelves soon!
