Welcome to Distant Worlds a studio centered on the intersection of science and society. Through a mix of nonfiction and fiction, we will explore the distant worlds of space, time, the large worlds and the small; the known and the unknown. This studio is for readers who want to walk in new lands, venture in time, look into the microscopic and wander through new dimensions. Join us for a fun intellectual time centered around good books and good conversations.
Facilitator Bios: Chris and Tammy Fay bring a unique, interdisciplinary lens to examining the past, present, and future of the world. Chris is a retired social studies teacher, and Tammy is an active science educator. More than 15 years ago, they collaborated on a co-taught “History of Science” course, born out of curiosity and mutual ignorance of each other’s fields. The course became a student favorite, breaking down the traditional silos between science and history. As lifelong learners, Chris and Tammy are passionate about exploring how scientific ideas and historical events shape our world. They look forward to continuing the conversation through this dynamic and thought-provoking book club.

merchandise returns for store credit within 14 days. No returns on Illume Essence, art & unwrapped games. All returns at discretion of the bookseller.

While we do our best to offer as much of our inventory online as possible, the best way to see everything is to stop by! ✨

Curation and "Why Don't You Carry..."
Illume is an experience for readers that's meant to showcase a careful selection of titles much in the same way an art gallery would display an exhibition.
Titles are always shown "cover forward", and our inventory rotates to reflect current reader interests, shifting topics, and obscure finds. That said, we LOVE recommendations! Let us know what you're looking for, or what your favorite reads are. You may find them on the shelves soon!
